Kyle Wilkie

Coach Kyle Wilkie is entering his third season as an assistant baseball and football coach at King’s Ridge Christian School. He also teaches World Geography and Business at the high school.

Coach Wilkie attended Creekview High School in Canton, Georgia (2013–2016), where he was a three-year starting quarterback for the Grizzlies under head coach Terry Crowder and a four-year starting catcher for the baseball program under Coach Mike Nayman. During his football career, he completed 527 passes for 7,183 yards and 60 touchdowns while adding 794 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns. On the baseball field, he was named Cherokee County Player of the Year in 2015 and earned GHSA All-State honors in both football and baseball during his senior season. Following high school, Wilkie accepted a baseball scholarship to Clemson University.

At Clemson, Coach Wilkie emerged as one of the program’s top hitters. After serving as a backup catcher early in the 2017 season, he earned everyday duties following a late-season injury and was named to the Clemson All-Regional Team as a freshman. He was the Tigers’ starting catcher in 2018 and 2019, finishing his collegiate career with a .307 batting average, .400 on-base percentage, and .431 slugging percentage across 144 games (134 starts). Wilkie recorded 25 doubles, one triple, 11 home runs, 86 RBIs, and 81 runs scored. In postseason play, he hit .452 (19-for-42) with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 12 NCAA Tournament starts. He was a two-time All-ACC selection (2018, 2019) and a preseason nominee for the Buster Posey Award in 2019.

Wilkie was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 12th round of the 2019 MLB Draft and played professionally in the Pirates organization through 2022.

During the summer, Coach Wilkie coaches with the Southeast Sox travel baseball program. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports Communication from Clemson University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Piedmont University. Coach Wilkie resides in Cumming, Georgia, and attends Hightower Baptist Church.
