Homecoming 2025 was one for the books! During our pep rally on October 3, King’s Ridge surprised special guest and alum Penny Hart (Class of ’15) with the announcement that his #2 jersey is officially retired. The crowd erupted as Penny, who thought he was just there to speak, learned that his number will forever hang as a symbol of excellence, hard work, and Tiger pride.
Penny’s story is the kind we love to celebrate. A true competitor, he was a multi-sport athlete at King’s Ridge, starring in football, baseball, and track. On the football field, he played just about every position imaginable, including quarterback, wide receiver, and running back, and still managed to put up some unbelievable numbers. In his final high school game, Penny rushed for 390 yards and seven touchdowns, and even threw for another 162 yards and a score. His drive and leadership stood out from the start.
After graduating from KRCS, Penny went on to make a huge impact at Georgia State University, finishing his college career with over 2,950 receiving yards, 202 receptions, and 19 touchdowns. He earned multiple All-Sun Belt honors, was named Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, and finished among the school’s all-time leaders in receptions, receiving yards, and all-purpose yards.
Penny’s journey continued into the NFL, where he played for both the Seattle Seahawks and the Atlanta Falcons, contributing as a receiver and special teams standout.
Retiring #2 is our way of saying thank you for inspiring future Tigers to dream big, work hard, and lead with heart. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.
