The King’s Ridge Football Team is set to host a playoff game for the first time in school history at Archer Field on Friday. The Tigers are the #13 overall seed in the GHSA 1A-3A Private Playoff Bracket and are looking for their first-ever playoff win.
Head Coach Zach Slaney, in his first season with the Tigers, has led them to a 7-3 record and instilled a different culture and expectation for the program. However, Slaney gives credit to others for the success, and not himself. “This whole season is attributed to the (football) staff, the players, and King’s Ridge Christian School. The staff and players come in every day ready to work and embrace the culture. When I got here, I was telling people that there was hunger at King’s Ridge. A hunger to be better and to strive to do better than what King’s Ridge Football Teams have done in the past. I told the players that no matter if it’s sports, your faith, or life, you’re going to get out what you put in.” Slaney has instilled a new motto for his program, F.E.D., Faith, Effort, Discipline, and it has shown on and off the field for the Tigers.
Slaney said he is “excited for Friday and the opportunity ahead of us. Hosting a playoff game is an earned opportunity, it’s not something that every team gets to do every year. We are excited for the game, and we are excited for the fans and community to come out. We’re thankful for the administration for allowing the early dismissal Friday to let everyone come to the game to support these young men who have been putting in the work since January.”
The Tigers will be hosting Darlington at 2:00 PM on Friday at Archer Field and are looking for the first playoff win in school history.
